JULY 23rd 2018
On this day
1886; Arthur Whitten Brown, British aviator was born.
He was the navigator of the first successful non-stop transatlantic flight, (14th June 1919), with John Alcock as pilot.
Concorde was an anglo-french enterprise to commercially fly at great speed anywhere on the planet - it used military speed engines in ad hoc civilian plane bodies.
It wasn't the technology that beat them - it wasn't commercially viable.
HS 2 will be the same - except it will be much harder to scrap.
They (the placate the pleb and pursuit of profit establishment)/we, will have to hang on until the rest of the network infrastructure gets up to speed.
Will it be another refined example of the canals and costly Kielder.
Is the pursuit of profit all that great! GOSH
1940; The Local Defence Volunteers were renamed the Home Guard by Winston Churchill.
My grandad was in the home guard - he used to sit in a trench and guard the local military airport.
The site of Usworth aerodrome is now part of the city of Sunderland the home of Nissan UK - I don't know if the 30 bob plane museum is still there!
He very rarely talked about life in the first world war trenches - his home guard/first world war uniform and rifle with bayonet almost the length of me, were kept in a full length cupboard until the day he died.
Nation state fighting used to be similar to inflation - as soon the next generation forgets!
War; what is it good for!
Some still really look forward to going to war - they send the easily pliable young to die and be injured.
If! you don't die young war is great GOSH
1995;Britain sent 1,200 troops to relieve the besieged Bosnian capital, Sarajevo.
The death toll in Ireland was approaching 3,000 and we - yes us Brits - sent a peace envoy to the Balkans.
Was it a prime example of, 'it takes one to know one',or
'If only god had give us the gift to see ourselves as others see us'.
Here (where) we go GOSH
1996; The BSE scare was extended after laboratory research showed that mad cow disease could also be transmitted to sheep.
At first the establishment were flummoxed as to how mad cow/sheep disease had spread so quickly.
It was not widely publicised that livestock were traded 2/3 in their lifetime - often across the same valley...
How many times has a 'farmer' said, 'I love my animals'.
Play(ing) the bloody game GOSH
Greece not known for a prolific agriculture or animal husbandry industry did not suffer from a single case of BSE; however, it was affected by it.
The EU banned British beef for ten years - the beef wars.
178 Brits caught the fatal human equivalent (vCJD) of BSE...
Remember that tory minister that had his daughter eating a beef burger on the telly' - stating that humans couldn't catch it...
It is recorded that three visitors to the UK were infected by BSE - one each from: Eire, Canada and the USofA.
Life and death is still a game of chance for all of us.
JULY 24th 2018
On this day
837; Robert Cocking made a parachute jump from a hot air balloon 5,000 feet above Kennington Common. Unfortunately the cone-shaped parachute inverted and he became the first person to die in a parachute jump.
We took a shortcut across a large now a tarmac surfaced open space in Berlin around 1970 - a place of some history...
We were amazed to see a senior NCO of an unknown regiment running like mad behind a jeep (land rover)with an ordinary round military parachute b(e)lowing behind.
It seemed like a real life cartoon - the parachute failed to open fully and he was dragged for a few yards.
Not a pretty sight or ending!...
Have you tried hang gliding!
Does god and jimmy jesus still love those that are life gamblers! GOSH
1867; The opening of the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.
At the time it was the largest hotel and the largest brick structure in Europe.
The building is designed around the theme of time, with four towers to represent the seasons, 12 floors for the months of the year, 52 chimneys to symbolise the weeks, and originally there were 365 bedrooms, one for each day of the year.
The grand used to be part of the Billy Butlin (jersey tax exile) Empire and,is now owned by Brittania hotels
(Pontins) - the top man is a non domicile for tax reasons; last nation state of 'abode', Austria.
Let's just say the 'Grand', Scarborough and almost any other non London centric resort have seen better days
In the present climate gambling with your money is now perceived as better than gambling with your life; by Good God GOSH
1908; Fifty six runners began the London Marathon from Windsor Castle as part of the London Olympic Games.
Trust them royals and the establishment to get in on the game.GOSH
Today there are over 800 official marathons - ever city under the sun seems to have one.
Most marathoners are now charity driven fun runners - some/many of them walk a more than a bit...
Try walking/running a mile in their shoes; and, see if you grin or grimace GOSH
The fastest men were born in either Kenya or Ethiopia.
The female world marathon fastest is a Brit by the name of Paula Radcliffe.
Paula was/now trailing ever so quickly, the same era as the footballer in it for the money as opposed to fame and Nation State.
What's your game! GOSH
2000; Loyalist paramilitary hit man Michael Stone was released from the Maze prison in Northern Ireland. He was given a 684 year sentence in 1989 for six murders and five attempted murders, but was set free as part of the Good Friday peace agreement.
There are many on both sides that still seek retribution.
Border or no border.
Some - not many indeed - really do kill in the name of God. GOSH
The Greek pleb has experienced a recent period of relative affluence - will they gladly grasp an internationally imposed austerity!
The marathon was first run in Greece a very long time ago.
No human can outrun the spread of a wildfire in a heat wave.
There goes that goddamn God again...
JULY 25th 2018
On this day
1603; James VI of Scotland was crowned as King James I of England, bringing the Kingdom of England and Kingdom of Scotland into personal union.
Political union occurred in 1707.
If! the greedy gits get in again; Scotland will go for a fully independent form of Republic.
Just watch em and others go GOSH
1814; The chief engineer at the Killingworth colliery, George Stephenson, unveiled Blücher, his steam powered locomotive that could haul eight carriages loaded with 30 tons of coal at the break-neck speed of 4 mph.
His son 'BoB' won the Rainham trials with Rocket - designed on 'Blucher', and built at Newcastle upon Tyne.
The original restored Rocket - designed to pull paying passengers at speed; killed the honourable MP for Liverpool, some say less than tragically - was on display at the Science Museum in London.
After returning briefly to Newcastle; there are plans for 'Rocket' - much restored - to go on permanent
display in the National Railway Museum at York.
Is this the perceived plan of the positive power of devolution; or, merely playing placate the provincial pleb!
If, it is not placate the pleb; we'll altogether gurn GOSH
1865; The death of Dr. James (Jane) Barry, the first woman doctor.
She wasn't the first gender bender of the medical profession.
In those days it really was a mans world - some religions still have man as the 'boss' today.
Physician heal thyself - the medical profession is exactly the same as any other vocation/calling/earning a crust.
The un-denied definition of a doctor today, 'someone who drinks more than an alcoholic'.
It is forecast that today - not exactly today if you know what I mean Harry; there will be more females than males taking the hippocratic oath.
Will Brexit or digitalisation have the most effect on those adhering to the oath.
Swearing is now more common than diabetes or gout GOSH
2009;The last British survivor of the World War I trenches, Harry Patch, died, aged 111. He was honoured at a service at Wells Cathedral, in Somerset.
There is a memorial to him at Cathedral Green, close to Wells Cathedral.
In 2007 he became the UK's oldest author when he collaborated with Richard van Emden to write The Last Fighting Tommy, a detailed account of his life.
Despite 4 generations now alive at the same time on this planet; does the rule still hold...
War and inflation come around as soon as the next generation forgets...
The death toll in Greece keeps rising - suffocation due to heat and fire is not a nice way to go...
The ones who have no fear of death are not the lucky ones.
It is the ones who go unexpectedly; instantly.
JULY 26th 2018
On this day
1745; The first recorded women's cricket match was played near Guildford, Surrey, between teams from Hambledon and Bramley.
Guildford (circa1970) was the first time of only a few, that I have seen a gang of women on the hoy.
They had a dimpled pint glass, often, stuffed ceremoniously full of tenners as a beer kitty.
It was certainly an eye and ear opener - it was a bit more than a bit more of raucous.
Some girls will; some girls wont - know what I mean, Henrietta!
Lets get back to the Game GOSH
I played cricket once - the best I can say, it was boring...
Hambledon near Portsmouth, used to be the home of cricket.
People (fans) are still allowed to view the pitch - everybody should have a hobby...
Mining communities throughout the English part of the nation state had cricket pitches - many were in the NE.
Cricket was a way of socialising; no matter what the class or income.
Cricket is now again a minority, middle class, and those that see themselves as middle class, sport.
The pursuit of wealth via sport is purportedly classless - don't mention the National sport of Footie.
Polo - fancy a chukka! Charlie - has seen a recent revival.
Horsie racing; the sport of kings - fancy a bet Betty - is on the downward slope.
Are you after the glitter!
Watch out for the googly GOSH
Hambledon also had a workhouse - the poor worked as slaves; it was an unfortunately still kept quiet reality of Victorian values.
Gateshead - once known as the dirty street leading to Newcastle to us even more provincial plebs - had its share of workhouses.
The workhouse was the socially innovative and cheaper answer to sending plebs to the penal colonies.
The sites of some workhouses became cottage hospitals - for the old and poor!
Some cottage hospitals became over time; part of the NHS.
If you don't think that the NHS is being privatised! you obviously think you have no chance of being in todays equivalent of the Workhouse.
Are we really, 'not as nice as we like to think we are'!
Why work when one can Gamble Gosh
1858; Lionel Rothschild took his seat in the House of Commons to become Britain's first Jewish member of Parliament.
Who is actually playing the race card in the convenient battle between Jew and Socialist.
Today the tribe of 'well off' Jewry have an unhealthy preponderance of representation in this no longer green and pleasant land.
Times have changed...
The oppressed have become the oppressors...
Let my people go NO GOSH
1958; In Britain, debutantes were presented at the Royal Court for the last time.
Today in the UK - alright London you luvvie - the debutante set-up is run by the Russians.
The organisation is run by the Oligarchs and has been condoned by the greedy gits.
Is the cant and hypocrisy of your house in order!
Are you coming to terms with reality... Or, are you still in the gang of the greedy git GOSH
1990;It was announced that the Fraud Squad would investigate the National Union of Mineworkers accounts over Soviet miners untraced donations.
The shifting sands of international and nation state adversity.
The up to date, now international, version of the fraud squad is being investigated...
Is the Greek population any different to that of the UK!
Apart from the climate, and as yet to be fully and widely understood immigration, Not really.
We Brits have yet to come to terms at all levels, with our present level of planet and personal debt .
JULY 27th 2018
On this day
1054; Siward, Earl of Northumbria invaded Scotland and defeated Macbeth, King of Scotland 'somewhere north' of the Firth of Forth.
Most; many/how many! people thought that the bloke who shaked a speare at wonder-ful words; made Macbeth up.
Isn't fake news/folklore great GOSH
1663; The English Parliament passed the Second Navigation Act requiring that all goods bound for the American colonies had to be sent in English ships from English ports.
In the long term; the one with the most money wins.
In the short term; is it the one with the biggest/best gun! GOSH
1689;The ending of the Battle of Killiecrankie, a battle fought between Highland Scottish clans supporting King James VII of Scotland and troops supporting King William of Orange, during the first Jacobite uprising.
Were the Crankies a bigger laugh in real life.
Here career was cut short when she fell alone from a seasonal beanstalk.
They made a sort of comeback later - where have the Crankies now gone GOSH
1694; The Bank of England was founded by act of Parliament.
The Bank of America was originally the Bank of Italy in San Fransisco's Little Italy.
The history of banking is hysterical - ta to the greedy bankers.
The latest banking crash was bought about by the uncontrolled greed emanating from the deregulation of Thatcherism.
Deregulation was the short/long term solution to making Us. the Americans and soon others who joined the game; wealthy again in the game.GOSH
Those who made the most, said, 'We have done nothing wrong' - 'we are all in this together'.
Many, who were in the game of manipulating and manoevering money were unaware of the impending crash.
The plebs who actually had created real wealth, prior; were the last to know.
Here we go GOSH
Credit default swops and other innovative financial products on the back of duff housing loans were fingered.
The financial industry was playing lucrative leap frog across the pond...
Prior to deregulation; the ratio of real assetts to created money was strictly controlled.
When I started working; I had the choice of traveling a short/long to some, distance for cash or, open a bank account.
Mutual building Societies came about; cos, the banks were ripping us off.
Today; even after us plebs bailed em out, banks can still officially, make up money by resorting to the ratio of real to funny money.
Where have all the building societies gone!
Bought out by the bankers mob; long time ago GOSH
1965;Shadow Chancellor Edward Heath beat off his rivals to become the new leader of the Conservative Party.
Wonder how many times he shrugged his shoulders when the electorate condoned thatcherism and bliarism for over a generation.
Now that inequality is an international reality; is the referendum protest vote a pissing outside the tent attempt to increase the wealth of the UK have-nots.
Careful now; many of the leave haves are a funny duplicitous bunch indeed...
Play the (what) game GOSH
Are the Greek games more desperate than the UK games!
JULY 28th 2018
On this day
1540; Thomas Cromwell, Chancellor to Henry VIII and his chief minister, was executed.
He was beheaded on Tower Hill for promoting the king's failed marriage to Anne of Cleves.
Henry married Catherine Howard (his 5th wife) on the same day - a right party animal.
Reformation rules OK.
Taxes paid to Rome and the catholic church were to remain in Good old England
The divine right to rule as a proddy was now the name of the game.
Some of the national wealth was used to strengthen our 'defence' force against the European hordes.
Henry inherited his wealth from his dad - some say he was a warmongering hedonist.
He ruled by death and destruction; not democracy.
Many of his less than majestic mates in money lost their heads
Do you really wanna be in my gang GOSH
1586; Thomas Harriot was credited with bringing the first potato to Britain, (from Colombia) ahead of Sir Walter Raleigh.
Ainsley was no relation to Tommy.
History is in the hands of the hungry...
The hungrier the man/woman; the more the history.
The history was written by the greedy - who am I to disagree GOSH
1857; The birth of Ballington Booth, an Officer in The Salvation Army and a co-founder of Volunteers of America.
He was born in Brighouse, Yorkshire and was the second child of William and Catherine Booth, founders of The Salvation Army - no drinking now.
You're in the army now.
Go out and save a few souls - padres actually go to war - never mind the gore; you're no ghoul GOSH
1959; Postcodes were introduced in Britain.
Have you been affected by the post code lottery of the NHS!
The national - now owned by Canadian Union pension fund - lottery is on the wane.
The Euromillion was started by the French and has been won the most times by a person from France.
The Germans are in the rival Euro Jackpot lottery - it is a bit easier to win and has been won the most times by a German.
Does god really love a gambler! GOSH
1988; The MP for Yeovil, Paddy - pants down - Ashdown, was elected the first leader of the new Social and Liberal Democrat Party.
The previous leader of the lib dems - Tim Farron - was found to be a bit too much sackcloth and sandals.
The present leader - even older Vince Cable - missed a crucial commons vote.
He was in more than semi-secret parlance re. another new political party.
No Groaning GOSH
The present Greek government is a coalition.
A massive amount of socialists propped up by a small right wing breakaway group.
Most of the Greek debt was accumulated by a right wing government gaining entry to the EU.
Don't mention skullduggery...
The Greek nation state is no different to other 'developed' nation states.
They have all seen a politically rejected rise of the far right and are split almost right down the middle.
Will it kick off again!
JULY 29th 2018
On this day
1565; Mary, Queen of Scots married her cousin Lord Darnley (Henry Stuart) in the Old Abbey Chapel at Holyrood, Edinburgh, thus alienating Scottish protestants and England because Darnley was a Catholic heir to the throne.
In the pursuit of power and wealth; men and woman will still - reasonably in their minds - resort to the gang rivalry of religion.
Mary - lost her head with the collusion of her somewhat removed relative of seen the inside of more prisons than Tommy Docherty (who) had played for and managed football clubs.
Everybody should have a goal GOSH
1567; James VI was crowned King of Scotland - at the tender age of 13 months.
He was the only offspring of Mary of Scots and her two year marriage to Lord Darnley - who had a really too early bath; he was murdered in the mucky melee for money.
At The age of 37 Jimmy became James 1 after the natural death of good queen Bess (Elizabeth the first) and Union of England and Scotland.
Jimmy was the compromise in a lull of the extended family and favoured friends war for wealth.
The plebs of the day actually had a parliament - dont mention the Gunpowder plot and other less well known 'conspiracies'.
Jimmy was well liked by the leaders of the pursuers of wealth; no matter what colour or creed of godly greed.
He presided over a relative period of peace - despite lack of heterosexually harmonisation.
Wanna be in my well deserved resting Gang GOSH
1848; The Tipperary Revolt took place in the village of Ballingarry, County Tipperary, in protest at British rule - famine, pestilence and English landlords ruled OK
After being chased by a force of Young Irelanders (initially peaceful) and their supporters, an Irish Constabulary unit raided a house and took those inside as hostages.
A gunfight lasting for several hours followed, but the rebels fled after a large group of police reinforcements arrived.
County Tipperary is part of Southern Ireland and, is now totally independent of Britain.
Eire - now a republic - (Scoland and NI) voted to remain in the EU by a greater majority than England voted to leave.
Now is supposed to be the era of democracy - in the battles for hearts and minds there are those that are still prepared to resort to death and destruction.
Giz a gun GOSH
1981; The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer at London's St Paul's Cathedral - heirs rule OK.
Wonder how the once disillusioned and desperate Di is getting on in heaven - a heaven made by God GOSH
Wonder how Trump is getting on with the bible belt of America!
Desperate times and even more desperate bedfellows (brexit; who loves ya baby) forming strange new gangs
The Greek riots after the 2008 banking crash and full revelation of the loans were under-reported.
The very few deaths were not fully publicised to prevent escalation! or...
The dark art of the collusion of compromise takes control.
JULY 30th 2018
On this day
1900;London Underground's Central Line was opened by the Prince of Wales, with a two pence (tuppence) fare for all destinations - it was increased to threepence in 1906.
On Paper it is now run by TFL(transport for London) under the auspices of the mayor of London.
In reality it is a mish mash of a mangled melee of private/public and PfI enterprise.
Under the dogma of privatisation - do we know where we are going GOSH!
London transport connectivity - as in train and bus; not computer bus - due only to its size; is coordinated more under public control than any provincial town/city.
Yet; the privatised national transport network is under a less than organised control by greedy gits.GOSH
A recent survey/event held by an American private equity outfit came up with...
The most favourite 'icon' of London travel was the black cab - bet they still invest in Uber.
A prime example of, you can fool some of the people some of the time; the new spin: Fake news.
Will they be laughing all the way to the 'Bank' - them greedy gits GOSH.
Them Germans have a fully integrated national transport infrastructure.
It was conceived and started prior to the second world war; by someone in the hitler clan.
The EU has state controlled private national transport networks.
The German nation state and other members of the EU now own(s) many/some of our train and bus sets...
Let's blame anyone but us; let's blame the the Germans... no Josh GOSH
A well off top/middle manager of the Tube; complained publically, that his degree educated offspring were finding it extremely difficult to find suitable gainful employment in the capital of this green and pleasant
The then - dead before his time - leader of the RMT, Bob Crow, said; 'get them jobs as tube drivers.
In this divided nation; isn't a battle in the class war great.GOSH
1940; Sir Clive Sinclair, inventor and pioneer of the first home computers (Sinclair ZX81 and Spectrum) was born.
In 2010 Sinclair stated that he did not use computers himself, and preferred using the telephone to email. In 1983, Sinclair formed Sinclair Vehicles and released the Sinclair C5, a battery electric vehicle that proved to be a commercial failure.
A man at the heart of computers when digitalisation and computers were a twinkle in the eye of silicon valley and the funny (real only if you rely on it) money investment of American enterprise.
Computers were supposed to aid industry.
Today; digitalisation and data software - the hard ware has hit a commercial road block - is the tail wagging the dog.
Those not in the game of wealth as the world changes; are turning back to God GOSH
The weather and deaths due to wildfires are turning the Greek plebs against the elected politicians.
Is this MSM news fake or fact!
The answer my friend is blowing in the class generated wind.
JULY 31st 2018
On this day
1703;English novelist Daniel Defoe was made to stand in the pillory as punishment for offending the government and church with his satire 'The Shortest Way With Dissenters'.
Bystanders pelted him with flowers instead of the customary harmful and noxious objects and drank to his health.
Defoe was a complex political animal of the time - most famous for his 'novel', Robinson Carusoe.
He was an English presbyterian dissenter; much respected by those in the North and, North of the Border.
In the days when most worshiped religion in church - not the shopping mall; Danny was far from happy about the union version of the christian GOD.GOSH
He was bought out of prison by a mentor and, one of the release conditions was that he became a spy for the tories.
He believed in trade not war; he was paid very little for his services as s spy...
Wonder if he was just a mixed up double agent that suffered from gout GOSH
1942;The Oxford Committee for Famine Relief (later called Oxfam) was founded.
Aid workers are under investigation again...
Sex and violence have always been the main hobbies/pastimes of man.
As yet; Woman are still less violent than man due to size.
Men are from Mars, women are from Venus.
It is when one takes advantage of ones position of rank and power that the fun of retribution begins...
If you don't think that the female sex don't take advantage of their position (sexually and politically), you are lacking some GR in your Grandeur.
1959; Cliff Richard - real name harry Rodger-Webb; born in India - had his first British No.1 with 'Living Doll'.
Cliff used to live with his manager and managers mother - his manager is alleged to have had a live in girlfriend.
Cliff has insisted a no of times, that he is just not interested in sex - he is not gay.
Cliff has stated he can't face living in the far from dead end street terrace mansion that featured in the recent fiasco with/against the BBC - It is up for sale...
Cliff has a number of properties; which are now managed by a single man of god from America.
Cliff spends most of the time between his properties in Barbados and Portugal.
He is not a tax exile - he is a citizen of Barbados.
Wonder if his property Empire is managed as good as his Career/Life is stage managed.
There are some who believe that Rock Hudson and Michael Jackson can/did no wrong.
Is Cliff a wrong'n a or just a misunderstood religious Good'n GOSH
1970; Black Tot Day occurred On This Day.
It was the last day of the officially sanctioned rum ration in the Royal Navy that dated back to 1665.
It was poured as usual at 6 bells in the forenoon watch (11am) after the pipe of 'up spirits'.
Some sailors wore black armbands, tots were 'buried at sea' and in one navy training camp there was a mock funeral procession complete with black coffin and accompanying drummers and piper.
American Admirals wanted to adopt, 'In the navy', by the Village People, as the officially recognised navy anthem.
It is truly amazing how one can be in the loop,in the team/off the team; even within a gang.
The establishment of any nation state won't/don't admit to the true extent of artificial aids in the form of drugs.
Do we really know where we are going to!
Have a guess Gosh
Greece is a divided nation state; divided in very similar extent to the UK.
Do they have a better idea of where they are going to as a member of a large trading bloc.
